WELCOME TO HOTEL GIORGIONE!
At the end of the 18th century the hotel building was a large confectionery warehouse. In the early 19th century this structure was converted into a hotel called Hostaria.
Still the propriety of the same family, the building was then renovated to become the elegant, refined Hotel Giorgione. Its special value lies in the fact that although equipped with all the features of the technological age, the Hotel continues to uphold a tradition as a hospitaable family house.
The Hotel is situated in an excellent quiet position in the quorter of cannaregio (named after the Canal Regio joining the Canal Grande to the Lagoon) and the parish of Santi Apostoli, a very old church built on a site where the a Apostles are said to have once appeard. Three minutes from Rialto and ten minutes from St. Mark's, the Hotel Giorgione offers the unrivalled benefits of being a family-run concern. The manager-owners welcome visitors not so much as customers but as guests in a friendly comfortable house.
The Hostaria has lived on next door as a typical localrestaurant offering exquisite cuisine with Venitian specialities.

Home to the Jewish Ghetto, the Cannaregio area of Venice was one of the last areas of the city to be settled. Nowadays, it is one of the few parts of Venice where Venetians still live and boasts numerous attractions to the intrepid tourist.
The Cannaregio district of Venice is one of the few parts of the city where Venetians still live in great numbers. Its numerous restaurants offer some of the best cuisine available in Venice at very reasonable prices. Especially in and around the Ghetto area of Cannaregio and the Foundamenta della Misericorda where you'll find a good selection of both regional and ethnic restaurants.
One of the last parts of the historic center of Venice to be developed, its canals are remarkably straight and well organized. From the Fondamenta Nuova you can enjoy sweeping views of the Northern Lagoon and the Islands of San Michele and Murano.
A popular place for artists to have lived over the centuries, you can pass-by Tintoretto's house and visit his local parish church, the Madonna dell'Orto, which houses work by the great artist. The name of the church originates from a weeping statue found in a nearby garden.
Other churches worth visiting in the Cannaregio district include the Santa Maria dei Miracoli which sits like a jewel box overlooking a charming canal. The Church of the Gesuti has a spectaclar interior made of marble, as well works by some of Venice's famous artists.
Their are numerous local markets located throughout the Cannaregio district serving the numerous Venetians who still live in the area, and providing lively and colorful scenes for visiting tourists.
Canneregio is home to the Santa Lucia railway station, which makes it a pratical place location to stay for tourists arriving or leaving Venice by train. For those looking for nightlife, try the only disco in town, the aptly named "Casanova's" located on the main street heading towards the station.
