The origins of the townformely called "bagni della porretta" date back to the 14 and 15 centuries. When the first inns and houses were built around the mineral wather springs.
Porretta is situated in the upper valley of the Reno river at an altitude of 349 metres above sea level. Surrounded by green hills with luxuriant covering of vetgetation. You can find mineral water in a modern spa centre, you can walk trought enchanted woods and national park and see beatifull
mountain stone-villages.
Moreover, there is no lack of cultural events, from the Sweet Soul Music Festival, to a Choir Festival, theatrical productions, concerts and ballets.
Add to this the frequent festivals, sporting events and exhibitions, such as the much-awaited "Cose d'Altri Tempi" - "Things from Other Ages", which willl include exhibits of local art and antiques.
Every season has something to offer at Porretta Terme.
As well as the resturants inside the Spa Centre, where you can follow customised and hypo-calorific diets, from April to September Porretta plays host to many town and village festivals where you can try local products and culinary specialities.
